One would think that extreme hubris and success beyond one's wildest expectations just really couldn't mix. I mean, they shouldn't be able to go together, right?!??
Apparently, though, they can. See, I actually kinda set out to build the best Dragon collection in all of DA. Or at least the best compared with any other reasonably popular one - it wouldn't surprise me at all if somewhere on DA, there's this absolutely fabulous personal dragon collection that no one's ever heard of or seen. And while best is so extremely relative, I wanted to be extremely happy with it myself, and as for objective standards, I did want it to become the most popular as tracked by
-s. 'Best' not equal 'most popular', but there's a strong correlation, oftentimes. Seems like an awfully hard goal to
overshoot, right?
Apparently not impossible, however! Aside: not to say my personal hubrified goal is complete and successful, but certainly it's on track and maybe then some - 139
in little over a week! Anyways, the crazy unexpected is that people seem to LOVE my Fantasy collection! I set out to have the most popular long-term Dragon collection, and I GET the TWO most popular (short-term) out of ALL collections, period!?! (This instant they are first (Fantasy) and third (Dragons) in the last 24hr - but they've been 1 and 2 at times)
Wow.
So yeah, I set out with a goal I wasn't too sure if it was realistic, and that felt like it was impossible to overacheive... and, at least so far, have already exceeded it...
Also, the pageview tracker must count more than just visits to the profile page - maybe it's counting not only every time someone visits one of my popular collections, but also for every artwork they look at while IN the collection?! That would help explain the crazy near 30,000 hits I've gotten in little over a week.
Now if only my suddenly popular profile were a bit more
interesting... oh well, stick to the favourites section, I guess, everyone! ...Although I might yet make a few changes to (well, this) and to my Devious Info, etc. Ma-aybe even submit a deviation or two - but don't expect ye standard artworks from me - no camera and I don't draw.
Um... cue audience participation hook-type thing: If you have a story where you or someone you know aimed for a ridiculously unattainable or prideful goal... and then totally overachieved past even that goal, feel free to share it.
